In conversation with Mississauga entrepreneur, Mandi Galer, owner of Sing Music Studio.

 1. What does your company provide/do? 

Sing Music Studio is a community-driven, performance-based music school focused on inspiring creativity and building confidence through music. Our values-driven approach not only helps students develop musical skills but also fosters personal growth. We’re about more than music—we’re about building better humans through self-expression, confidence, and a sense of belonging. 

2. What inspired you to start your company? 

Music has always been transformative for me, and I wanted to create a space where others could experience that too. After witnessing the power of music education firsthand, I realized there was a need for a school that prioritized more than just technical skills—it needed to foster confidence, creativity, and community. Sing Music Studio was born out of a desire to help students discover their potential through the arts. 

3. What's been the most impactful lesson you've learned being an entrepreneur? 

One of the most impactful lessons I’ve learned is the importance of resilience. There are ups and downs in any business journey, and it’s easy to get discouraged when things don’t go as planned. I’ve learned that perseverance, adaptability, and maintaining a strong connection to your values can carry you through. Every setback is an opportunity to learn, refine, and grow. Trusting the process, even during tough times, is essential. 

4. How do you unwind? 

I love to travel and explore new places around the world, which always recharges my spirit. Spending time with my family, especially my 5-year-old, brings me so much joy. I’ve recently discovered a passion for pottery—it’s such a rewarding, creative outlet for me. Performing, of course, is a huge part of my life too. It’s always my happy place, where I feel most refreshed and in tune with myself. And then there’s the ultimate relaxation: hot tubs! 

5. What succinct advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs? 

Focus on your “why” - your mission - and let it guide every decision. Entrepreneurship can feel overwhelming, but with a clear vision and a deep connection to your purpose, you’ll 

have the strength to overcome challenges. Surround yourself with a supportive network and keep learning. 

6. What are your goals for 2025? 

In 2025, we aim to complete the upper levels of our Performing Artist Program curriculum and continue refining our programs to maintain their quality. We’ll focus on educating the broader community about the unique benefits of our performance-driven approach, especially how it builds confidence and creativity. Through strategic marketing efforts, we plan to expand our reach and establish Sing Music Studio as the destination music school in Clarkson, while strengthening our existing programs. 

7. How did the Mississauga Starter Company Plus program help you start or expand your business? 

The Mississauga Starter Company Plus program has been essential in supporting Sing Music Studio’s growth. The funding is helping us complete our Performing Artist Program curriculum, expand our marketing reach, and increase our visibility within the Clarkson community. Mentorship and resources have been invaluable, and the financial support has enabled us to invest in new equipment, like keyboards, to enhance the student experience.
