Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - What can housing providers, landlords and property managers do to reduce the spread of COVID-19?
Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about what housing providers, landlords and property managers can do to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
What can housing providers, landlords and property managers do to reduce the spread of COVID-19?
Housing providers, property managers and landlords play an important role in our community to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Several proactive measures to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 in apartment buildings and other multi-unit dwellings include:
Accepting deliveries for residents who are self-isolating at the front desk or concierge
Making hand sanitizer available in the entrance or at the elevator
Cleaning and disinfecting high traffic areas, such as building entrances, elevators and laundry rooms often (at least twice daily)
Practicing physical distancing, especially in common areas like lobbies and elevators
Postponing in-person programs and group gatherings and having virtual meetings where possible.
Closing shared amenities, such as game rooms, gyms, and pools
Reviewing and posting resources about hand washing, physical distancing in laundry rooms, lobbies, elevators, hallways, etc.
To protect our community, we can all take steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Some actions include:
Staying home as much as possible
Avoiding crowds and places where people come together
Staying a safe distance of 2 metres (6 feet) away from other people
Avoiding touching your eyes, mouth and nose as much as possible
Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your upper sleeve or elbow, not your hands
Let’s all do our part to stop this virus and safeguard our community!
