The Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewine Festival is back and better than ever!
January is a very special time of year in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This is when we celebrate Icewine, the rare and uniquely sweet wine that propelled Canada onto the world’s wine stage nearly three decades ago and has become inextricably tied to our winemaking heritage as it continues to garner global acclaim. Every year we pay homage to Niagara’s ‘liquid gold’ by coming together for the Annual Icewine celebration, a quintessentially Canadian Festival which is now entering its 25th year. During the second half of the month, the town’s exquisite Heritage District is transformed into a winter wonderland; an idyllic setting for visitors to sample outstanding icewines poured by more than 20 Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries along with sweet and savoury culinary creations from Signature Kitchen Chefs.
This year the Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewine Festival kicks off on Friday, January 17th with the Sparkle & Ice Gala. This is the launch event for the outdoor Icewine Village on Queen Street which will be set up for two consecutive weekends (January 18-19; 25-26). On Friday, January 24th, the White on Ice Dinner will return for its 6th year but with a unique twist as it will be proposed in a progressive-dinner format. Details for all the exciting festival events are provided below.
